Background
Dylan is married to Sarah Bennett through the duration of the season. After moving to Waterbury in order to help Sarah assume the house Sarah's parents were murdered in, Dylan gets a job at the local newspaper, the Waterbury Bulletin, as it's editor-in-chief where he meets Alison Sutherland - the publisher of the Waterbury Bulletin and Dylan's boss.
As the copycat serial murderer "The Executioner" targets the people of Waterbury, Dylan sees this as his chance to get closer to the truth. It's revealed that Dylan has actually been following the Executioner story for a long time, sending Tom Winston letters, and initially came in contact with Sarah in order to get more research.
