Isaac Kashtinsky is a main character in the fifth season of Slasher. He is portrayed by Daniel Kash.
Background[]
Isaac is a superintendent for the Toronto police who acts as Kenneth Rijkers superior during their pursuit of the Widow.
He is the fifth of the Widow's victims due to his lascivious advances during the party and, due to her turning down those advances, his apathetic stance on her torture and eventual death-- standing by to watch as Basil Garvey and Alistair Simcoe exacted their desires onto her. While reeling from the distorted vision his medication gave him, he hallucinated seeing Margaret sitting alone in a carriage. Upon approaching and entering, seemingly apologetic for what had happened, Isaac gains clarity of mind long enough to realize that he's sitting next to the Widow, not Margaret. With a swift motion, his hands are bound together using a horse's reigns, and after the Widow aggravates the horse, it runs through town with Isaac in tow, dragging him along the ground and eventually killing him.
His body was later dressed by the Widow in a white toga with a small bow and arrow positioned in his hands. He also lay on a small origami heart which harbored the Widow's newest poem.
History[]
Before Margaret's murder, Isaac attended a party at the Botticelli home with Basil Garvey, Salomé, Melanda Israel, Viviana Botticelli, Eddie Jacobs and Georges Rondeau. During this time Margaret is hypnotized and tormented for the guests amusement. Distraught by Margaret's treatment, Isaac threatens George to stop, and excuses both Margaret and himself to get some air outside. As chivalrous as it may seem, Isaac offers to get her out of his situation in exchange for marriage and (by Margaret's presumption) sexual favors. His offer is vehemently denied, hurting Isaac's pride greatly. Days later, although seemingly uninvolved with the murder itself, Isaac is seen as a witness and corroborator to her torture and death.
Twelve years later, Isaac kept his job as a superintendent, promoting Kenneth Rijkers to detective shortly before the events of 'Ripper'. Initially when the murders begin he feigns ignorance in hopes that the killer will be caught, using every resource at his disposal to attempt to capture the Widow. While trying to do damage control, he is prescribed cocaine by Dr. Israel in order to steel his mind for long enough to keep the investigation going. He does however become highly dependent on it, almost resorting to injecting it directly into his arm-- later being unable too and consuming it orally. It's his drug addiction in addition with his obsession with the Widow that he eventually tortures Georges in order to garner a confession out of him to no avail. This leads to his temporary dismissal and the appointment of Kenneth as acting superintendent.
