Margaret Mehar is a minor character in the fifth season of Slasher. She is portrayed by Genevieve DeGraves.

Background[]

As a young adult, Margaret lived on the streets as a prostitute working for Horatio Dixon. Although it's unclear for how long, she is seen to have somewhat amicable relations with Salomé, another person under Horatio's employ (at the beginning). At some point Margaret fell pregnant with Regina Mehar and went to work for the Botticelli sisters as a maid-- unaware of their violent and abusive nature. It's unclear whether Regina was born while under the sister's employ or beforehand.

Sometime during the party while serving drinks to the guests attending, Margaret came back into contact with Salomé, of whom demanded that Margaret fetch her another drink. Adamantly refusing her request, a heated disagreement broke out which resulted in Margaret entirely undermining Salomé's position within the party-- claiming to be her moral superior. At a separate point, Margaret was hypnotized to act like a chicken by Georges Rondeau much to the crowd's amusement, which was later seen by Regina. However, Isaac Kashtinsky, another attendee of the party, had enough of the act and took her outside for some fresh air. As altruistic as it seemed however, he hoped to marry her in order to 'take her away' from the abuse, to which she vehemently declined, upsetting him greatly.

After the party has ended, Viviana Botticelli had struck Margaret for Regina's behavior during it. Feeling this as the last straw, Margaret tried to garner help from Andrew May Sr. When he refused to allow her to stay at the church, he tried to offer her help but she didn't have any money or a place to stay. And so with only one option left she decided she was desperate enough to attempt to blackmail Basil Garvey in order to get enough money to leave town. While seemingly understanding at first, Basil tricked Margaret which eventually led to her subsequent kidnapping, appropriated by Salomé and Eddie Jacobs.

During this time she is raped and tortured by Basil and Alistair Simcoe, with Isaac Kashtinsky watching nearby. During this period, Georges is seen strangling her to unconsciousness before letting her wake and doing it again, not killing her however. It only until Basil himself asphyxiates her and throws her body on the floor that she dies. Her body was given to Melanda Israel in order to desecrate her corpse and make it look like the work of a different killer. The story of Margaret's death benefitted Enid Jenkins greatly after she wrote a news story that incriminated Andrew May Sr. for her death, giving her the greatest sales record in personal history.

Andrew May Sr. is shortly thereafter hung for her death, and Regina is kicked out of the Botticelli household to fend for herself.

Relationships[]

Regina Simcoe (née Mehar)[]

Margaret and Regina had a close mother-daughter relationship until her untimely death, since Regina's mother was the only person she had. Margaret herself likely only attempted to blackmail Basil as a last resort in order to provide a home for Regina-- as she was well aware of the risks, being warned off it by Andrew May Sr. Regina, feeling nothing but hatred for the people that killed her mother, vowed to get vengence and justice for her by killing and torturing everyone involved.
