Regina Simcoe (née Mehar) is a main character in the fifth season of Slasher. She is portrayed by Clare McConnell

Background[]

As a child, Regina lived at the Botticelli residence with her mother, Margaret Mehar of whom worked as a maid (sold to the sisters through Horatio Dixon) and was horribly abused by both Botticelli sisters. After seeing her mother be humiliated and laughed at while serving a party, Regina was caught by Venetia Botticelli for running around the house, and later scolded alongside her mother. Feeling this as the last straw, Margaret became desperate enough to attempt to blackmail Basil Garvey. This eventually led to her subsequent kidnapping, appropriated by Salomé and Eddie Jacobs. Which later led to her rape, torture, and death by the hands of Basil, Isaac Kashtinsky, Georges Rondeau, and Alistair Simcoe, Her body was given to Melanda Israel made to desecrate her corpse and make it look like the work of Jack the Ripper. The story of Margaret's death benefitted Enid Jenkins greatly after she wrote a news story that incriminated Andrew May Sr. for her death, giving her the greatest sales record in personal history.

Immediately following the news of Margaret's death, Regina was thrown from the Botticelli residence and left to fend for herself. One of the maids upon seeing her outside however, approached her and (presumably) gave her the means and opportunity to make herself 'stronger' in order to 'save the world'. It's assumed that during the twelve years proceeding the events of Season Five, that Regina became extremely proficient in martial arts and knife-wielding skills.

Upon meeting Alistair, she's told in great detail what happened during the night Margaret was killed, adding that he seemed almost proud of his actions that night. A flair of vengeance was reignited thereafter, and using her skills, cornered Alistair in the Devil's Elbow and killed him in an extremely torturous and brutal way-- by cutting along this spine with large shears. Not satisfied with only one, she plotted to continue and kill anyone else involved in the murder of her mother. After news of Alistair's death had "reached" her, she pretended to be a grieving widow, and used this position to confuse, mislead, and gather more opportunities.

Relationships[]

Kenneth Rijkers[]

From the very start of their relationship together, Kenneth and Regina held a positive standing with one another. While Regina was aware that Kenneth was attempting to find and stop her from killing her intended targets, she continued to treat him with courtesy and respect-- later blossoming into a reciprocal romantic relationship. As the murders continue, Kenneth goes back to Regina for aid on the motivation behind the killings, and to decipher the notes left behind allowing her to gently push him in the right direction.

Regina does believe that while Kenneth may be somewhat naïve in his pursuit for justice, his intentions are pure and good. Enough so that she suggests in a note to Kenneth that if justice through the criminal system were possible, she may have not even taken up the Widow persona in the first place.

Alistair Simcoe[]

Although married to him, Regina hated Alistair enough to murder him in an extremely gruesome way and violate his corpse further by positioning it on a post. Claiming to to have only married him in order to gain Alistair's trust-- enough so that he would share the details of Margaret's murder twelve years prior. Once she had confirmed who was involved, and how they were involved, her plot to kill them all was set in stone.

Basil Garvey[]

The ultimate object of Regina's hatred, as she believes that he alone is responsible for the death of her mother, with the others simply being pulled in by his influence and power. Spurned with hatred, she purposefully leaves him for last so that he can witness the carnage and horror awaiting him at her hands.

Margaret Mehar[]

Regina loved her mother, since she was the only ally she had. And after her death, was driven towards a twelve year journey to take vengeance on her murderers and accomplices.

The Widow[]

Twelve years prior to the events of Ripper, Margaret Mehar was tortured and killed.

It's revealed that while working for the abusive Botticelli sisters, Margaret became desperate enough to attempt to blackmail Basil Garvey for his promiscuous proclivities. This eventually led to her subsequent kidnapping, appropriated by Salomé and Eddie Jacobs. Which later led to her rape, torture, and death by the hands of Basil, Isaac Kashtinsky, Georges Rondeau, and Alistair Simcoe, Her body was given to Melanda Israel to desecrate her corpse and make it look like the work of a different killer. The story of Margaret's death benefitted Enid Jenkins greatly after she wrote a news story that incriminated Andrew May Sr. for her death, giving Enid the greatest sales record in personal history.

It was these major players in Margaret's death, as well as the lack of justice for her true murderers, that led to the creation of the Widow.
